Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally by the body.  You find it mostly in the joints, eyes and skin.  About 50% of all the hyaluronic acid found in the body is found in the skin.

It holds on to moisture in the skin by binding with the water molecules which keeps the skin hydrated.   Studies have found that hyaluronic acid holds up to 1000 times its weight in water. Our skin forms a lipid barrier that prevents environmental toxins from entering the body.  As we age this barrier loses its effectiveness partly because the skin loses moisture.   The super hydrating action of hyaluronic acid helps to fortify this barrier.

Hydrated skin reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Increasing the moisture in your skin gives the skin an overall tighter looking complexion. Soft tissue growth is enhanced.  The body responds to hyaluronic acid by making more collagen and elastin.  This helps the skin retain its elasticity and it prevents tightness.

Hyaluronic acid also promotes the growth of new skin cells.  As we age the cells produced to replace the cells in our skin slow down dramatically.  When the skin is well hydrated and the protective barrier is intact, the environment for healthy cell growth is enhanced. Skin cells will grow at a healthy rate.

It also can help with acne breakouts.  When the skin is well hydrated the body doesn’t produce as much oil so breakouts are diminished.

Hyaluronic acid is an important part of the injection protocol to rebuild cartilage and in strengthening and tightening ligaments, making damaged joints become pain free and to move properly to prevent damage in the future.

Because hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the body, adverse reactions are very rare.
